I’d been having regular acupuncture throughout that time, and I’ve always believed it played a real part in what happened. We lost our son, Aslan, when he was one day old, and in the hardest months afterward, my own acupuncture appointment was the one thing I never let myself skip — it didn’t take the grief away, but it gave me an hour where I could set it down. That loss is what brought me into this work: I trained as an acupuncturist because I wanted to offer other women the same steadiness I’d been given.
